Manhattan School of Music (2023)

In 2023, the Manhattan School of Music, a renowned music conservatory in New York City, commissioned Snell to arrangeSleigh Ride” for the institution’s holiday video greetings. This project featured 175 student performers in various styles/genres, and included two members of the New York Philharmonic.

In addition to organizing the overall musical arrangement, Snell created the individual arrangements for 12 ensembles: String Quartet, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Choir, Woodwind Quintet, Opera Theatre (Vocal Arts), Harp, Tactus Ensemble (Contemporary Performance), Brass Ensemble, Jazz Chamber Orchestra, Classical Piano, Symphony Orchestra, and Classical Guitar.

In 2019, the Manhattan School of Music commissioned Snell to arrangeWinter Wonderland” for the institution’s holiday video greetings featuring 145 student performers in various styles/genres. Snell's arrangements, showcased annually in the school's holiday videos from 2019 to 2022, maintained their quality and lasting appeal over four years.

In addition to organizing the overall musical arrangement, Snell created the individual arrangements for 10 ensembles: Jazz Ensemble, Classical String Quartet, Classical Brass Quintet, Percussion Ensemble, Solo Harp, Chamber Choir, Classical Woodwind Quartet, Solo Classical Piano, Symphony Orchestra, and Solo Classical Guitar.

In 2017, jazz trumpet artist Jonathan Dely commissioned Snell to arrange and orchestrate Rodgers and Hart’s standard "My Funny Valentine” for his recording project titled Jonathan Dely with Orchestra at Avatar Studios (now Power Station at BerkleeNYC), featuring a studio orchestra of 30 musicians.

 
 
 

Columbia University (2021)

Role: Arranger

Columbia University Teachers College commissioned Snell to arrange the “Ode to Joy” theme from Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, by Ludwig van Beethoven. This arrangement, which served as the event's closing musical performance, followed a keynote speech by US politician, lawyer, and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams. The arrangement featured a combined in-person and virtual orchestra of more than 50 musicians.
